Customization of the Windows 7 OS welcome screen is performed using standard system tools and does not require the involvement of additional software. Special knowledge in programming is also not needed.
Instructions
Step 1
To view the existing Windows 7 Welcome screen, use the Win and L function key combination. Enter your password when prompted. Determine the display resolution. To do this, open the context menu of the screen by clicking the right mouse button and select the item "Screen resolution".
Step 2
Select a new image to replace. Make sure it is less than 256KB in size. Please note that exceeding this size may result in the inability to display the selected image correctly. The format of the selected picture must be.jpg.
Step 3
Call the main system menu by clicking the "Start" button and go to the "Programs" item. Expand the Accessories link and launch the Windows Explorer application. Go to the path: drive_name: / Windows / System32 / oobe and open the context menu of the oobe element by right-clicking. Specify the "Create" command. Select the "Folder" sub-item and name it info.
Step 4
Use the same method to create a new subfolder called backgrounds in the info folder. Place the selected image in the created folder and change its name to backgroundDefault keeping the.

Return to the main system menu "Start" and go to the "Run" dialog. Type regedit on the Open line and run the Registry Editor utility by clicking OK. Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Software / Microsoft / CurrentVersion / Authentication branch.

Call the editor's service menu by clicking the right mouse button in the right part of the window and select the "Create" command. Select the DWORD Value option and name it OEMBackground. Type 1 on the "Value" line and exit the editor.

To restore the original Windows 7 Welcome screen settings, you just need to change the value of the created OEMBackground parameter back to 0. Deleting the image is optional.
