To successfully create a local network, you must use network cables. In most cases, in addition to its usual connection to a network card, you need to be able to correctly configure the adapter parameters for network operation.
It is necessary
- - network cables;
- - network hub.
Instructions
Step 1
If you plan to combine several computers into one local network, then purchase a network hub (switch). In most cases, you can get by with the budget model of the above device, because you do not need to configure its LAN ports. Select a hub with the required number of these connectors.
Step 2
Purchase the required number of network cables. Naturally, you need ready-to-use cables with connectors at both ends. Install the network hub in the desired location. Connect this unit to AC power. Connect multiple computers to the network hub.
Step 3
To make these connections, connect one end of the network cable to the LAN port of the hub, and the other end to the network card of your computer or laptop.
Step 4
For the convenience of exchanging information between computers, it is recommended to set its own static (permanent) IP address for each device. This will avoid problems when connecting a network printer or creating shared network resources. Open Network and Sharing Center (Windows 7) or go to the Start menu and open Network Connections (Windows XP).
Step 5
Right-click on the local network icon formed by the network hub. Select Properties. Now select the "Internet Protocol TCP / IP (v4)" option and click the "Properties" button.
Step 6
Check the box next to Use the following IP address. Enter its value, for example 152.152.152.2. Save the settings for this network adapter.
Step 7
Configure the network cards of other computers in the same way. To avoid problems associated with discovering computers on the network, enter IP addresses whose first three segments will be identical. Do not change the subnet mask yourself.
