The System Volume Information folder belongs to the system and hidden in the Microsoft Windows XP operating system. This folder is for storing system state backup files called System Restore Points. Access to it is performed by standard system tools.

Instructions
Step 1
Open the "Tools" menu of a randomly selected folder on your computer and go to the "Folder Options" item.
Step 2
Click the View tab of the dialog box that opens and find the Hide protected system files (recommended) option in the Files and Folders section of the Advanced Options window.
Step 3
Uncheck the box on the found field and confirm your choice by clicking the "Yes" button in the query window "Do you really want to display these files?"
Step 4
Return to the Advanced Options window and go to the Hidden Files and Folders section.
Step 5
Apply the checkbox to the "Show hidden files and folders" field and click the "Apply" button to execute the command.
Step 6
Confirm the application of the selected changes by clicking OK and open the disk containing the Windows XP operating system (usually drive C).
Step 7
Find the shaded folder System Volume Information (the color of the folder is caused by the fact that the folder is hidden) and open its context menu by clicking the right mouse button.
Step 8
Specify the "Properties" item and go to the "Security" tab of the dialog box that opens.
Step 9
Click the Add button and click the Advanced button in the new Select: Users and Groups dialog box.
Step 10
Click the "Search" button and specify the selected user in the list that opens.

Click OK and wait for the name of the selected user to appear in the Enter Names of Selectable Objects (Examples) window.
Step 12
Click OK and verify that the correct name appears in the Group and Users window.
Step 13
Click the "Apply" button to execute the command and confirm the application of the selected changes by clicking the OK button.
Step 14
Open the System Volume Information folder by double clicking on the folder icon.
