People who constantly use a laptop in their work often face the problem of overheating of the equipment. Due to continuous operation, the standard cooling system cannot cope with the amount of heat generated by your laptop. There are several ways to reduce heat build-up.
Necessary
- - new paste for the video card;
- - brushes;
- - new cooler;
- - stand with built-in cooling system.
Instructions
Step 1
Install special software that allows you to adjust the operating time and the inclusion of the cooling system. This method will be very effective if you periodically leave your laptop or do not use it. In this case, you need to make settings in the system to allow the computer to enter sleep mode as quickly as possible to conserve energy and generate a minimum amount of heat. For example, use Speed Fan, ATI tool or Riva Turner software. Thanks to these utilities, you can not only turn on and off coolers, but also monitor the temperature of the entire system in real time.
Step 2
Change the paste in the cooling system. Paste is a substance that absorbs heat from the heating element of a laptop and transfers it to the cooling system. Over time, the paste begins to lose its properties. Heat is not transferred well, so the laptop starts to overheat.
Step 3
Check the repair manual for your laptop model. Also visit the forum for your brand's laptop owners. There you can find instructions on how to change the paste.
Step 4
Remove the bolts securing the chassis part that blocks access to the processor. Locate the processor latches and unfold them. Then carefully remove the processor from the sockets. Remove old paste. To do this, use a special plastic spatula. Carefully remove the remains with a cloth dipped in alcohol or cologne.
Step 5
Apply a new layer of fresh paste. Spread it evenly over the entire surface. Make sure that there are no voids or unevenness. Otherwise, the heat transfer will be very bad. Reassemble everything in reverse order.
Step 6
With intensive use, laptop coolers become clogged with dust and other dirt. Due to poor air circulation, cooling is slower, causing overheating. Therefore, the coolers must be constantly cleaned. Partially disassemble the laptop to gain access to the fans.
Step 7
Disconnect the wire from the cooler, and also remove the bolts holding the fan housing. Take out the cooler and clean it thoroughly with a brush. Lubricate moving parts with fresh engine oil. Install the fan in reverse order.
Step 8
Use a dedicated stand with built-in fans. It is convenient if you constantly use your laptop in one place. This stand connects to a computer using a USB cable. It is advisable to use it when the power supply is connected to the laptop, as it significantly reduces the battery life of the computer.
