The capabilities of the free graphics editor Paint are not as impressive as those of its big brother Photoshop. However, you can successfully manipulate images with the Paint tools.

Instructions

Step 1

Open the picture in Paint.net. On the Image menu, click Canvas Size. In the new window, specify the new dimensions for the length and width of the photo, depending on which part of it you want to cut off. In this example, the extra detail is a squat stone shed on an island. Set a new width dimension and use the arrows to indicate the direction of the cutting line. Click OK.

Step 2

You can do it differently. On the toolbar, click Rectangular Selector or press S on your keyboard. Mentally mark the fragment that you will cut out. Place the cursor at one of the vertices of the outlined rectangle, hold down the left mouse button and drag it diagonally, stretching the selection. When the entire section is marked, release the button.

Step 3

In the "Image" menu, choose the "Crop By Selection" command. The part of the image that remains outside the selection will be removed. You can use Ctrl + X instead of the Crop By Selection command.

Step 4

If you want to use a part of the picture for a collage, after selecting the desired fragment, press Ctrl + C - the fragment will be placed in the clipboard. Open another image and press Ctrl + V - the fragment from the buffer will move to a new layer.

Step 5

The cut part can be saved as a new image. To do this, save a fragment of the image to the clipboard and create a new document using the New command from the File menu. The dimensions of the created document will correspond to the dimensions of the image saved in the buffer. Press Ctrl + V or use the Paste command from the Edit menu.
