As a rule, modern games use a large number of files containing various resources and auxiliary programs. Depending on how they are stored on your computer's persistent or removable media, the methods for extracting individual files from a game can vary and can be of varying degrees of difficulty.
Instructions
Step 1
If the game is installed on your computer, then launch the standard file manager of the operating system. In the Windows operating system, this is Explorer, and it is launched by pressing the win + e hotkeys or by two clicks on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop. Using the file manager, open the folder where the required program is installed. By default, most games are installed in a directory named Program Files on the system disk of the operating system, but another directory may have been specified during installation.
Step 2
There is an alternative way to open the root folder of the game. Expand the main menu on the "Start" button, find the link to start the game and right-click it. In the pop-up context menu, select the "Properties" item, and then click the "Find object" button on the "Shortcut" tab of the window that opens. As a result, Explorer will start and immediately open the folder you need. Using the method described in these two steps, you will access the game files and use them as you wish.
Step 3
If the game is stored in archive files with the extension zip, rar, 7z, etc., then you will need some kind of archiving program to extract the files. The most common archivers are WinRAR, WinZIP, 7-ZIP. After installing one of them in the system, the required file must be right-clicked and select "Extract files" from the context menu.
Step 4
If the game is contained in a disk image, that is, in a file with the extension iso, nrg, mdf, etc., then use some emulator program to extract. For example, it can be Daemon Tools, Alcohol, PowerISO and others. After installing and running such an application, you need to "mount the disk", after which the files will become available using Explorer.
Step 5
If the game starts from a CD or DVD and you cannot access its files using Explorer, you can create an image of this disc and then proceed as described in the previous step. Some of the emulator programs can create images on their own, or you can use specialized applications - for example, Nero Burning ROM can do this.
