The mdf format is used to store CD or DVD disc images. In this format, you can download all kinds of games and install them using special utilities for working with this extension. These programs allow you to emulate the operation of a CD-drive and launch a virtual image on a computer.
Instructions
Step 1
Various programs are used to open mdf files, among which are Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120%, MagicISO, etc. One of the most popular applications is Daemon Tools - the program has support for a large number of formats and successfully copes with the installation of most games in mdf format.
Step 2
Download the application from the developer's website and install it on your computer. Among the versions of the program presented on the site, you can choose Lite - it is perfect for a beginner, has a sufficient set of functions and is free.
Step 3
After installation, launch Daemon Tools using the shortcut on the desktop created during the installation. After downloading the program, you will see an interface for working with image files. To add your mdf file with the game, left-click on the "Add Image" button.
Step 4
In the window that appears, specify the path to the game image. After that, wait until the end of the disk drive emulation procedure to launch the virtual disk menu. If emulation was successful, you will see a system menu for choosing options for working with the disk. If the menu does not appear after mounting the image, double-click on the emulated drive icon at the bottom of the Daemon Tools window and wait for the menu written in the mdf file to load.
Step 5
You can always create multiple drives to work with different mdf files. To do this, use the "Add virtual DT drive" button in the Daemon Tools toolbar. You can also manage the program functions using the Windows system tray. To do this, right-click on the running application icon in the lower right corner of the Windows panel and select "Virtual drives". Click on any of the listed drives and specify the path to the game's mdf file, then install it using the appropriate instructions.
