Sometimes you need to hide one or more partitions of your hard drive from prying eyes. Of course, you can create several accounts and assign passwords for each, but there is an easier way out - hiding partitions using the system itself.
Instructions
Step 1
The described method is used to completely hide hard disk partitions, i.e. you will not see the section in Windows Explorer, any file manager, as well as when working with the command line and when booting the system in safe mode.
Step 2
Regedit registry editor will be used as the main tool for further work. It can be launched using the "Run" applet. To do this, press the Win + R key combination. Type regedit, then click OK or click the Enter key.
Step 3
In the Registry Editor window that appears, open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE section. Then open the following folders in sequence Software, Microsoft, Windows, CurrentVersion, Policies, Explorer. Call the context menu of the Explorer folder by right-clicking on it. In the menu, select the "New" section, then click on the line "DWORD Value".
Step 4
The parameter you just created needs to be changed from New Parameter # 1 to NoDrives. To open the properties of a new parameter, double-click on it with the left mouse button. In the dialog box that opens, go to the "Calculus system" section and check the "Decimal" checkbox.
Step 5
Look again and remember the letter of the section you want to hide, because each section has its own individual meaning. If disk “A” has a one, disk “B” has two, disk “C” has four, and so on. The principle is that each subsequent value is twice the previous one. Enter the value for your drive and click OK.
Step 6
To hide several sections, you must enter a number equal to their sum. For example, 2 + 8 + 32 = 42, it is this value that must be entered. To cancel hiding drives, you need to delete the parameter created in the registry.
