Modern monitors work reliably enough, but sometimes they still fail. You can try to fix the problem yourself, but already at the very first stage of the repair, the user is faced with the problem of disassembling the monitor.
Necessary
- - cross screwdriver;
- - a plastic card;
Instructions
Step 1
If you have a monitor with a cathode-ray tube, there should be no particular difficulties in disassembling it. Make sure it is unplugged. Disconnect the power cord and cable that goes to the computer's video card. You may need to remove the "leg" of the monitor: in this case, carefully place it on a table with the screen facing down on a soft surface. Unscrew the screws securing the "leg" and remove it.
Step 2
Use a cross-head screwdriver to unscrew the screws that secure the back cover of the monitor, there are usually four of them. Then carefully, without using force, remove the cover. For repairs, you may need to slide out the monitor board, it can be secured with screws and / or latches. Do not forget that there may be a high residual charge on the "suction cup" of the picture tube.
Step 3
Much more hassle arises when opening the LCD monitor case, especially if this is the first time this procedure is performed. The front and rear panels of the monitor are connected with plastic clips. You need a suitable tool to open them. A used phone card or any flat and strong enough piece of plastic will do. Also have a couple of screwdrivers ready.
Step 4
First, remove the “leg” by unscrewing the screws that secure it. Place the monitor face down on a soft surface. Opening the LCD monitor casing should start from the bottom of the monitor. This is not caused by some design features, but by the fact that when opening it it is very easy to scratch the outer surface of the case. Scratches on the underside are the least noticeable, so if you have no experience, you should start from the bottom.
Step 5
Insert the corner of the card or matched plate into the slot between the halves of the case and try to separate them. Prepare for the fact that this can take quite a lot of effort. The release of the latch is accompanied by a loud crack, and a small gap will appear between the panels. Insert the tip of a screwdriver into it. The hardest part is behind: now gradually slide the card along the slot, opening new latches and rearranging the screwdriver. When all latches are open, carefully remove the back cover (monitor with the screen facing down).
