Step 1
Create your own account with a password on your operating system. Keep in mind that the file system of the media containing the required partition must be NTFS. Next, select the required folder, open the menu with the right mouse button, go to "Properties", click on the "Access" tab and put a tick on the item "Unshare this folder". Then confirm the password request, enter it and save.
Step 2
Setting a password for a folder using the WinRar program. This method requires less manipulation, but it can take a little longer than the previous one if the required folder is large. Place the desired folder in the archive using the WinRar program: right-click on the folder, then "Add to archive", the "Advanced" tab and "Set password".
Step 3
Folder password protection using software. The most convenient and therefore popular program for this is Hide Folders. It allows you to set a password for both a folder and a separate file in the Windows OS (operating system). In addition, this program has several other useful features, such as a function to avoid accidental deletion of data. Hide Folders works in NTFS, FAT32 and FAT file systems. However, this program is paid and is valid for only thirty days without registration. On the other hand, if your operating system is Windows 9 * / Me, then there is an option to install the free version.
