Quite often several people use one computer at once. In such cases, no one is protected from the fact that his folders with personal information can be opened by other users. And then a completely logical question arises about how to make sure that its content is not available to other users? It's pretty simple. This is setting the password for the folder, which will need to be entered in order to open it.
Necessary
- - computer;
- - Folder Guard program.
Instructions
Step 1
To set passwords for folders, you need to use special programs. One of them is called Folder Guard - find it on the Internet, download and install it on your computer hard drive. Run the program.
Step 2
In its main menu, select File, and then in the menu that opens - Master Password. Two lines will appear in which you must enter the program user password. It is needed so that no one except you can use this program. Come up with a password and enter it on the top line. Then enter its confirmation on the bottom line and click OK.
Step 3
The main menu of the program contains a list of hard drives, and next to it there is a "+" icon. By clicking on it, you will open the folder tree on this section of the hard drive. Click on the "+" sign next to the hard drive where the folder for which you want to set a password is located.
Step 4
Click on this folder with the left mouse button. Then, in the window that appears after that, select the Lock with Password option. A window will pop up in which you can set a password. Enter the password on the top line, and confirm it on the bottom line. Click OK - the password entry window will close. In the next window, also click OK. Close the program.
Step 5
Now try to open the folder to which you set the password. As you will see, it will not open. Instead, a line will appear where you will need to enter the password. Enter it and it will open. When you close the folder, a dialog box will appear prompting you to continue locking it.
Step 6
If you click "No", then you will no longer have to enter the password in this session, it will be painted over only after the next start of the PC. If you click "Yes", the folder will continue to be locked. If during the current session you often need to open this folder, then, of course, it is better to select "No".
