Closing (finalizing) a data disc must be performed when you are not going to add any other files to it in the future. The function of closing discs is present in almost all disc burning programs.

Necessary

Burning software such as Nero or CD Burner XP

Instructions

Step 1

Download and install the Nero software. During installation, follow the required steps to configure the system and open files. Start it up. Select Burn Data Disc from the main menu under CD or DVD.

Step 2

Prepare all the necessary files for recording, be sure to check them for viruses. Place them in the final folders of the location, rename if necessary, since after recording it will be impossible to do this.

Step 3

Select "New Project". In the window that appears, using the icon with the + sign, select the files you have prepared to add to the project. Insert the disc into the drive, it can be either a completely blank media or an unclosed disc with data and free space for adding files.

Step 4

Make sure that there is enough space on the disc for all files, and burn (burn), setting the recording parameters in advance and ticking the box next to the "Finalize disc" menu item. After that, check if you performed the operation correctly - if no more information can be written to the disk, then everything was done correctly.

Step 5

Proceed in a similar way if you have CD Burner XP or another optical media burning application installed. They all work in a similar way, the main thing is, do not forget to tick the box "Finalize disc".

Step 6

If you don't want to add files to the disc but just want to close it, just try burning without adding a file. If it doesn't work, drop a small hidden file onto the disk and finalize the media.

Step 7

To do this, check the "Hidden" attribute by clicking on the file with the right mouse button and selecting its properties. Thus, it will not be displayed on the disk if the view of hidden files and folders is not enabled on the computer.
