If, among the many updates from the Microsoft website, you were "lucky" to first download and then install the update KB905474 (Windows Genuine Advantage Notification), then every time you boot the system, you will most likely have to observe a beautiful sign over the system tray "You may have purchased a fake copy of the software. This copy of Windows was not authenticated."
Instructions
Step 1
Windows Genuine Advantage is a Windows authentication program that is installed by the insidious Microsoft Windows Update service along with other updates. Two documents are responsible for the permanent display of this plate: WgaLogon.dll (size 231 KB) and WgaTray.exe (size 329 KB). To get rid of them, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to open Task Manager. Find the WGALogon process, right-click on it, select End Process and confirm your action. With this you have "killed" the process and you can proceed to further actions.
Step 2
System folders are hidden by default, to display them open the "Tools" tab in any window, then go to the "Folder Options" menu and click on the "View" item. In the window that opens, select the "Show hidden files and folders" checkbox and click "Apply".
Step 3
Go to the Windows folder, open the system32 directory in it, concentrate your attention on the WgaTray.exe file. Feel free to move it to the trash can. In the same folder, find the WgaLogon.dll file and also delete it.
Step 4
Open the system32 folder again and navigate to the dllcache folder. This folder contains copies of all files on the installed system. Delete the copies of the WgaTray.exe and WgaLogon.dll files, otherwise Windows will restore them to their original form.
Step 5
Open the Start menu and click on the Run button. As a result, a small window will open in which enter regedit and click Ok. This will launch the registry editor.
Step 6
Delete all WGA files from the registry, for this go to the following addresses and delete individual string parameters: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE => SYSTEM => ControlSet001 => Services => Eventlog => System => WgaNotify] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE => SOFTWARE => Microsoft = >
Windows NT => CurrentVersion => Winlogon => Notify => WgaLogon] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEM => ControlSet002 => Services => Eventlog => System => WgaNotify] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE => SOFTWARE => Microsoft =>
Windows => CurrentVersion => App Management => ARPCache => WgaNotify]
Step 7
After uninstalling, restart your computer, and the message about failed verification will no longer bother you.
