Subtitles often go as an additional file to the video; in this case, they are an element that can be turned off at any time. If you have one file, most likely, you will not be able to disable subtitles.

Instructions
Step 1
If you play a video using the Media Player Classic, click on the icon with the codec icon in its menu, after which a drop-down menu should appear on your screen. Select “Hide subtitles” or “Hide subtitles” if you have an English version of the software installed.
Step 2
To turn off subtitles when watching movies and other video recordings in various third-party players, use the Play menu, or simply try right-clicking on the recording being played. It all depends on the software you are using.
Step 3
Please note that many programs have a subtitle control function from the main menu. Before using the players, be sure to familiarize yourself with the interface, in the future it will be easier for you to control its functions.
Step 4
If subtitles are embedded in the recording (they come in one file with the movie), look at the file extension. To do this, enable the display of extensions for registered file types in the folder appearance settings through the computer control panel. If the file format is not.mkv, most likely subtitles are embedded in the video and cannot be turned off in your case.
Step 5
If you have a video with embedded subtitles that cannot be turned off, download the recording again without them. To do this, you can use special sites and other resources to exchange files between users.
Step 6
Please note that in cases of watching a video online (for example, on youtube.com or other resources intended for storing video), it is impossible to turn off subtitles, to do this, simply use the search for a regular version for viewing.
