Although many popular films are released on DVD in multiple languages, not all DVDs contain subtitles. If you have a DVD with a movie in a language other than your native language, and without subtitles, you can add them yourself. In this matter, special sites will help, which provide subtitle files for films in different languages for free.

Instructions

Step 1

Copy the video from the DVD if it is not on your computer. To rip discs manually, insert the DVD into your computer's drive, then go to Start> Computer, right-click the DVD in the list and select Open to display the Video_TS and Audio_TS folders. Right click on the Video_TS folder and select Copy, then right click on the computer desktop and select Paste.

Step 2

Go to a subtitle site like Moviesubtitles or OpenSubtitles and find the subtitles for the movie you want. To do this, enter the title of the movie in the search field and press the Enter key. Click on any of the languages listed to download subtitles for that language.

Step 3

Click on "Start> Computer" and double-click on the "(C:)" drive. Go to the "Downloads" folder, find the downloaded subtitle file as an archive, right-click on it and select "Extract All". The text file will be extracted from the archive and saved in the Downloads folder.

Step 4

Leave the Downloads folder open on the screen, and double-click the Video_TS folder on your desktop to open it. Drag the extracted subtitle file to the Video_TS folder.

Step 5

Download a DVD burning software that supports adding subtitles. ConvertXtoDVD and Vidmex have this capability. With these programs you can easily and very quickly convert almost any format to DVD and burn a disc. After downloading the selected software, go to the "Downloads" folder and open the file with the program and install it.

Step 6

Insert a blank DVD-R disc into your computer's drive. Launch ConvertXtoDVD or Vidmex and follow the instructions to burn the Video_TS folder with subtitles to disc.
