Memory devices in the form of flash cards or disk drives based on logic chips are gaining more and more popularity these days. Flash drives have become a versatile means of storing information and transferring it from one medium to another. Even with the most careful handling of this electronic device, it sometimes breaks down. In some cases, it is quite possible for the user to eliminate the malfunctions.

Instructions
Step 1
Determine the type of technical malfunction of the flash card. This can be mechanical damage, logic faults, controller failure, thermal or electrical damage, or flash memory wear. In some cases, you have to deal with several types of breakdowns at once.
Step 2
Use R-Studio or EasyRecovery to fix the damaged logical map structure. If the flash card is recognized by the device as unformatted or empty, it is most likely that there is a corruption in the card's file system. In this case, in fact, the data remains in its place and can be restored using such heuristic programs. Before using the software package, insert the card into the USB port of your computer and start debugging.
Step 3
Use PhotoRescue to recover digital photos on a flash card. Such a program will automatically recognize files of the same type, for example, JPG, MOV or TIFF by their characteristic headers. In most cases, scanning the disk drive is enough to fix a problem with image storage.
Step 4
If the flash card is damaged due to harmful mechanical impact, replace the damaged parts (housing, USB connector). Clean the card contacts, if necessary, solder them. Repair of the card will not be justified if the memory chip is damaged in case of damage. In this case, the data cannot be recovered. For preventive purposes, use a hard case to store the flash card.
Step 5
Dry a flash card that has been exposed to water for a long time. Do not turn on the device until all traces of moisture have been permanently removed, as this may result in irreparable damage to the flash card and complete destruction of data. If the card has been in sea water, do not try to dry it yourself, contact a specialist.
Step 6
If the controller malfunctions, or if there is thermal or electrical damage to the flash card, do not attempt to repair it yourself unless you are qualified. In such cases, contact a specialized workshop to recover the data or ensure its safety.
