Alcohol 120% is one of the most versatile and popular utilities for emulating disks and working with virtual drives. The program can work with most image formats, and is also capable of creating them. This utility also makes it possible to burn the desired image to disk.
Instructions
Step 1
Alcohol 120% works with disk images. An image is a file that contains a copy of the structure of the data file system of the media from which it was copied. To open or write an image in this utility, you need to use the corresponding points of the program.
Step 2
To open a downloaded or copied image in ISO, MDF, NRG, CUE, etc. start the program window and select the "Virtual disk" option in the left part of the window of the "Basic operations" block. In the menu that appears, specify the number of virtual disks that you want to run on the system. Only one virtual drive may be required to open one image. Subsequently, you can use the same virtual drive to open other image files.
Step 3
Right-click on the icon of the newly created drive, which is displayed at the bottom of the program window. Select the "Mount Image" option to run the desired file. Specify the path to the image and select it in the window that appears. It will be installed in the virtual drive, and you can run it from the program window or in the system.
Step 4
To create a compilation, use the "Create Image" function in the upper left part of the functional panel of the program. Insert the disc into your computer's drive. Go to this section of the application menu and specify the parameters of the disk used, the name of the drive, etc.
Step 5
Specify the reading speed (you can leave "Maximum"). The lower the speed, the more likely it is to get the most accurate disk image. To set up automatic configuration, you can use the "Data Type Analyzer" function. After configuring the necessary parameters, press the "Start" button and wait for the end of the scan. After the end of the operation, you will see a corresponding notification. Press the "Finish" button to continue working with the utility.
Step 6
Image recording in the program is carried out through the function "Burn CD / DVD image". Insert the disc into the drive and select this option. Specify the path to the disk image on your system and set the necessary recording parameters. After making the settings, press "Start" and wait until the end of the operation. The disc burning will be completed in a few minutes. After the operation is completed, you will see a corresponding notification, and the disc will be automatically removed from the drive.
