If your power supply is still under warranty, i.e. is sealed, and it is not possible to open it, use the following check method. You will need some program or process that can cause the power supply to consume more power. For example, launching one of the latest novelties in games, opening weighty files in several programs, enabling transcoding of a video file, etc.
Step 2
Before starting testing, measure the current voltage levels of the power supply. And after the expected load on the computer comes to an end, take another control measurement. If these values that you took at the beginning and at the end of work changed by a few tenths, then your power supply can be safely changed to a more powerful one, because a strong heating has occurred.
Step 3
If your power supply is no longer under warranty, you can do the following: Install an additional hard drive, which will increase power consumption. In addition, one of the above processes can be started. Measurement must be taken before connecting an additional hard drive and during its operation. After the ratio of these values, you can safely deliver a verdict to your power supply. If the difference is also a few tenths, then the power supply cannot cope with the load.
