When it becomes necessary to connect two local networks into one, you should not come up with a fundamentally new scheme. In some cases, it is sufficient to connect just a couple of devices together. This will save you some time and effort.

Necessary

network hub, network cable

Instructions

Step 1

To combine two LANs into one, you need a network cable or hub. The correct choice depends entirely on the occupancy of both networks.

Step 2

To begin with, consider a situation in which we have two LANs built using hubs. In order to technically combine them into a single network, connect two hubs from neighboring networks together. Use a network cable for this purpose.

Step 3

To facilitate further exchange of information between computers on a shared network, change the IP addresses of computers on one of the subnets. After this operation, all devices should have IP addresses of the 111.111.111. X format.

Step 4

Now let's consider a situation in which one of the subnets is built using a router from which the Internet was distributed. Similar to the method described in the second step, connect both networks into a single whole.

Step 5

Pay attention to the following nuance: no network hub may have free LAN ports. It would seem that it is impossible to connect them together. Purchase an additional hub. Disconnect one computer from each hub on each subnet.

Step 6

Connect these computers to the new device. Connect the purchased hub to each of the freed LAN ports.

Step 7

Most likely, all computers on a subnet built without a router have static (permanent) IP addresses. And computers on the second subnet are dynamic.

Step 8

Open the network connection settings of any computer on the first subnet. Select "Internet Protocol TCP / IP". Make the "Obtain an IP address automatically" item active.

Step 9

Repeat the steps in the previous step on all computers on the first subnet. This is for the router to give them the new IP addresses they need to access the Internet.
