A few years after the first versions of the iPod MP3 player, the concept of a sound device has changed significantly. Now it is not just a player, it has many other useful functions, including reading text. Over time, it became possible to download entire books.
Necessary
- Software:
- - Microsoft Office Word;
- - Wordpod.
Instructions
Step 1
If many PC users are familiar with MS Word, not everyone has heard of the Wordpod utility. It allows you to create a book file from plain text, which will be read by the system tools of your player. The program is freely available on the Internet, you can download it at this link
Step 2
Open any text file using MS Word editor. You need to save the document in a format convenient for Wordpod. To do this, click the top menu "File" and select "Save As" or press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + S.
Step 3
In the window that opens, specify the folder where the file should be saved and the file type "Plain text" (to select an alternative encoding, click the "Other" button and select UTF-8). Then click the "Save" button.
Step 4
After installing Wordpod, you need to open a text file in it that has been converted by MS Word. In the main program window go to the Import tab and click the Choose button. In the window that opens, select the newly created file and click the Import button.
Step 5
To view the text of the book and how the program divided the text into chapters, you need to go to the Library tab. By default, you need to use the Copy to iPod button on the iPod tab to save. But, as the practice of using this utility has shown, this method is often not the best option, because malfunctions appear.
Step 6
An alternative way of saving is to archive the book files and then unpack them to the internal disk of the player. Click the Save as Zip button and specify a folder to save the zipped book.
Step 7
Using a program that works with archives, for example, WinRar, copy the book file to the device, not forgetting to connect it in advance.
