Over time, it takes longer to boot and shutdown the operating system. This is mostly due to its clogging caused by a large number of applications installed on your personal computer. Of course, turning your computer on and off can be done faster.

Step 1
Use a programmatic method to speed up the shutdown of your computer. To do this, you need to make some manipulations with the system registry. Go to the Start button menu, select Run. At the command prompt, enter regedit. You will see a window containing the directories of the system registry of your personal computer.
Step 2
Find the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder. Expand its directory tree. Then find SYSTEM / Currentcontroolset / Control / Session Manager / Memorymanagemet. Find the PrefetchParameters folder. Click on it once.

Then find the line EnablePrefetcher. Click on it with the right mouse button. In the context menu, select the "Change" item. A window will appear containing the value 3. Replace it with 5. After that, the computer will boot and shutdown faster.
Step 4
Adjust the autorun menu. The system automatically launches some applications when it boots. Subsequently, when the system is booted, these applications live in the system tray. To make the computer shutdown faster, you need to clean up the autorun, i.e. remove from it all those applications that you do not use very often or do not use at all.
Step 5
Go to the Start button menu, select Run. At the command prompt, enter msconfig and press the Enter key. A menu will appear in front of you. In it, select the "Autostart" item. Remove from it all applications that you think are unnecessary.
Step 6
Use solid state drives as system drives to shut down your computer faster. Due to the fact that this type of media has no moving parts, then, accordingly, they will work faster. But there are, of course, some nuances. This kind of hard disk has a rewrite cycle limit. If you are counting on the stable operation of the hard disk for three to four years, then this method of solving the problem will automatically fix itself.
