Stepping is the process of improving the processor through minor tweaks or major modifications such as energy saving, heat dissipation, etc. If we compare it with software, then we can say that stepping is the same as a new version of a program. There are two main ways to determine stepping: by marking (if the processor is not connected to the motherboard) and using programs (in working order).
Necessary
- - computer;
- - the Internet;
- - special software.
Instructions
Step 1
Look at the box and rewrite the processor markings. The processor marking must be reflected on the packaging.
Step 2
Determine the stepping of your processor using special sites created by the processor developers.
Step 3
Download one of the following programs: CPU-Z, WCPUID, Everest (in fact, the list of such programs is quite large). CPU-Z is the best choice for stepping.
Step 4
Install the program of your choice on your computer.
Step 5
Run the installed program and click on the CPU tab.
Step 6
Pay special attention to three main parameters: family, model and stepping. They, in fact, are key in determining a specific processor core. Stepping is a rather specific area of computer technology, and not everyone will be able to draw conclusions from the definition of stepping. Basically, the stepping of the processor core is determined for its further improvement.
