When purchasing software, the user must be sure that he is buying a licensed product, and not a pirated counterfeit. Cases of counterfeiting the Windows XP operating system are especially common. There are several distinguishing features of a licensed copy of a Windows operating system from counterfeiting.
It is necessary
- - a computer;
- - all available documents and packaging from the operating system;
- - Internet access.
Instructions
Step 1
Go to the official Microsoft site. Select the Windows Authentication menu item in the upper right corner of the window. This is not entirely reliable, as many pirated versions today can pass this check. They may even be able to download updates for them. Therefore, it is better to use alternative methods, for example, check for a license certificate.
Step 2
If you have an OEM license (the option when a copy of Windows is available on the computer as a preinstalled version), then pay attention to the presence of a user certificate, which is usually glued to the computer case. It should contain the name of the software product and a 25-character license key.
Step 3
If you purchased a Boxed Product - FPP (the software product is provided as a distribution kit on a disk, accompanying documentation, etc.), find the Certificate of Authenticity stuck on the box. It must contain the name of the product and the sticker inside the box contains the 25-character license key.
Step 4
If you have a copy for licensing the installed operating system (GGK) of Windows XP Professional, in this case, check the presence of a certificate of authenticity on the PC case, which should contain information about the name of the product and its license key.
Step 5
If you have a corporate type of license, check for a certificate that can be glued either to the computer case or to the box if you purchased a boxed version of Windows.
