Very often, when copying information from websites into a plain text file, it becomes necessary to copy the information presented in the form of a table. Unfortunately, the usual copy-paste method does not work in this case. However, you can go the other way.
Instructions
Step 1
Copy the table as a picture.
To do this, use the scroll bars to position the page so that the table is completely within the screen. Press Print Screen on the keyboard, saving the screenshot to the clipboard. Open any graphics editor, for example Paint, and paste the resulting image into it. Next, select the area containing the table and save it as a picture in.
Step 2
Using special plugins.
There are special plugins that can recognize tables in web pages. They allow you to reformat them into the desired format and save them in a text editor. For Firefox, this plugin is called Table2Clipboard. After installing it, just right-click on the table and select Copy Whole Table from the context menu. This function copies the table to the clipboard while preserving the formatting. Next, just insert the table into your document.
Step 3
If you need to copy only a part of the table, while holding down the Ctrl button, select the required area with the left mouse button. After that, copy it using the Copy selected cells command in the context menu and paste it into the document.
Step 4
Copy spreadsheets using Google Chrome.
In the latest versions of the Google Chrome browser, there is already a function with which you can copy a table while preserving the formatting. To do this, select the table and select the "Copy" command in the context menu.
Step 5
Transfer tables from the web page manually.
Create a table in the Word editor with the required number of rows and columns from the "Insert", "Table", "Create Table" menus. In the dialog box that opens, specify the number of rows and columns and click "OK". After that, one by one, transfer into it the contents of each cell of the table located on the site.
