Buying a personal computer is a responsible business and requires a competent approach. There is an opportunity to buy a ready-made system unit, or you can order an assembly according to an individual order. Which option is better to stop at?

System unit: buy ready-made or assemble in parts?
System unit: buy ready-made or assemble in parts?

Despite the fact that comfortable laptops and tablets have strongly pushed bulky desktops, they cannot claim to be the main device. A lot of practical tasks can only be accomplished using a desktop personal computer.

It is not difficult to become the owner of a functional desktop. To do this, you just need to come to one of the salons of household appliances and electronics and buy a ready-made system unit. Another way to provide your family with multifunctional and powerful computing equipment is to order an assembly of equipment in a computer center. Both methods have every right to exist.

Advantages and disadvantages of buying a ready-made system unit

It is easiest to buy a ready-made system unit in one of the salons of household appliances and electronics. To do this, you need to come to the store and choose the most suitable one in terms of price and technical characteristics. You will have to purchase five or six items. In addition to the system unit, these are the obligatory keyboard, mouse and monitor, without speakers it is also difficult to imagine a home computer, and if necessary, you can supplement the set of peripheral equipment with an inkjet or laser printer.

Buying a ready-made system unit in a store, you can be completely sure that it is ready for use immediately after installation and connection of all peripherals. The system unit contains everything you need, the operating system is already installed and there is a starter package for the most popular programs. That is, you can turn on the computer and start working immediately.

On the other hand, the complete set of the system unit is carried out at the factory on the basis of generally accepted averaged standards that do not take into account the specific needs of an individual user. In other words, a ready-made system unit bought in a store may be unsuitable for solving some specific tasks that require a certain configuration and the use of special components.

Individual assembly of the system unit

Computers, called in the terminology of specialists IBM-compatible, have an open architecture - in contrast to, for example, all-in-one from Apple and laptops. Therefore, you can always add new units to a ready-made system unit and, of course, generally assemble equipment only from those components that best meet all user requirements. This is how many computer centers work.

Having come to such a center, you do not choose a system manager from the ready-made ones, although there is such an opportunity, but simply tell the manager about your needs. At the same time, you will certainly be asked a lot of questions about the features of the upcoming use of the machine. Believe me, this is not an idle curiosity. Based on the information received, a competent master will select the most suitable components, and if something specific is needed, then the missing parts will be ordered from suppliers and will appear in the workshop in the coming days.

Why is this so important? For professional work with sound, for example, a standard sound card integrated into the motherboard will not be enough - you will need a separate professional or semi-professional card that provides many possibilities. The same can be said for the video card.

With individual assembly, you can choose the motherboard, type and amount of memory, hard disk size, and if necessary, you can put two, three or even four hard drives and organize a RAID array to increase the reliability and safety of storing user data. In short, custom assembly has many benefits. True, it can take a lot of time, especially if you need specific components that are not currently available in the workshop, but then you will have a desktop that fully meets all your needs.
