If you decide to turn your mobile computer into a home server, there are a few things to consider. Pay special attention to configuring the parameters of your laptop's network adapters.
Necessary
- - network hub;
- - network cables.
Instructions
Step 1
Purchase a dedicated USB-LAN adapter first. This is necessary if your mobile computer has only one LAN port. Select a network hub and purchase this device. It will allow you to connect several stationary computers to your laptop. Prepare the required number of network cables.
Step 2
Connect the provider's cable to the mobile computer. Configure your internet connection. Make sure it works stably. Connect the USB-LAN adapter to a network hub. Connect other computers to it using network cables.
Step 3
Open the list of laptop network connections. Find the network adapter icon and open its properties. Go to TCP / IP (v4) Internet Protocol Settings. Activate the "Use the following IP address" function by checking the box next to the corresponding item. Enter the permanent IP address for this network adapter. Save its settings.
Step 4
Now open your internet connection properties. Find the "Access" menu and open it. Activate network sharing with other users. Select the local network formed by the network hub. This completes the configuration of the laptop.
Step 5
Open the list of active local networks of one of your computers. Navigate to the TCP / IP settings for the network card connected to the hub. Enable the use of permanent IP address function. Enter its value. Find the "Default Gateway" field and enter the laptop's IP address in it. Fill in the Preferred DNS Server field in the same way.
Step 6
Configure the rest of the network computers as described in the previous step. Change the value of the IP address each time. Remember that the laptop must be turned on in order for other PCs to access the Internet.
