The motherboard is the main component of your computer. The entire configuration of the PC depends on it. If you are thinking of buying a new part for your computer, you need to know the model of your motherboard and its characteristics. Otherwise, you may purchase components that are not compatible with your PC.

Necessary

  • - Computer;
  • - AIDA64 Extreme Edition program.

Instructions

Step 1

The easiest way to find out which motherboard is installed on your computer is to look at the technical documentation. Among the technical documentation there is a separate booklet on the motherboard. In it you can read not only the name of the motherboard, but also its characteristics. However, when buying an already assembled computer, documents are not always issued for every detail, and manuals for the motherboard may not be there. Or maybe this little book was simply lost.

Step 2

You can also view the motherboard model when you turn on the computer. Immediately after you turn on the PC, the name of the motherboard will be displayed on the screen of your monitor. But only the model without any characteristics is indicated there.

Step 3

In order to find out which motherboard is installed (its model, type and characteristics), it is best to use additional PC monitoring and diagnostics programs. One of the best of its kind is AIDA64 Extreme Edition. Download it and install it on your computer. Run the program. Wait until the process of collecting information about the system is completed. After that you will be taken to the main menu of the program.

Step 4

In the main menu, pay attention to the right window. The main components of the computer are displayed here. Select the System Board component. In the next window, also select the "Motherboard" component. Completely comprehensive information about the motherboard will appear: its model name, interface types, form factor, socket version and other characteristics.

Step 5

At the bottom of the window there will be links to the website of the manufacturer of your motherboard, links to updating drivers and updating the BIOS. To update drivers, double-click the left mouse button on the Download Driver Updates link. The page from which you can update the driver will open in your browser.
