Experienced personal computer users may not have problems deleting information from a flash drive, but for beginners it can be an insurmountable obstacle.
Removing information from a USB flash drive
There are many different ways by which you can delete absolutely all information from a flash drive. For example, the simplest one is to insert a USB flash drive into the computer, open it, select the necessary fragments and delete them by pressing the Shift + Del key combination. It should be noted that such a procedure still leaves the possibility of recovering deleted information. Alternatively, you can completely format your USB stick. To do this, you also need to insert it into your computer and open it. Then, you need to right-click on the free space and select "Format" in the context menu that appears. After that, a special window will open in which the user can select the most suitable type of file system (Fat32 or NTFS) and the type of formatting (full format or fast). Only full formatting should be used to remove information. Upon completion of the process, the flash drive will be completely cleared of all data.
Deleting data from a flash drive using special software
In addition to all of the above, it is worth noting another option - shredding programs that not only delete files from a flash drive, but also completely erase any information from it (not even visible to the user's eyes). For example, one of the brightest representatives of this "fauna" is the Eraser HDD software. The program does not require installation as such, that is, the user just needs to run it from a shortcut that may be on an external drive (or even another flash drive). With its help, you can quickly and easily delete absolutely all information without the possibility of recovery (with the help of standard operating system tools, such a possibility still remains).
Of course, there are other analogues, for example, Safe Erase 5. With its help, the user can delete information from a USB flash drive using one of six methods (as an example, overwriting information 35 times). Unfortunately, coping with this program is not as easy as it might seem at first glance. This is due to several aspects: firstly, the program is completely in English, and secondly, its interface is a little confusing, and therefore some minor troubles may arise. The program itself is paid, but users can download either its test version or download a special tablet.
