Often there are situations in which it is necessary to know the models of some devices installed in a computer or laptop. Determination of the connected equipment is achieved by both mechanical and software methods.
Necessary
- - Speccy;
- - screwdriver.
Instructions
Step 1
If you are dealing with a desktop computer, check the model name on the motherboard itself. Disconnect power from the system unit. Unscrew a few screws and remove the desired enclosure wall.
Step 2
Find the information you are interested in by examining the motherboard. Typically the model number is stamped on the device itself. Naturally, the described method is not applicable to mobile computers, because it will take a lot of time to disassemble a laptop. Moreover, you can damage important items during this process.
Step 3
Install the Speccy utility. Download it from www.piriform.com. It is distributed freely, so you do not have to purchase a license to use it. Install the described program.
Step 4
Launch Speccy. Wait 2-3 minutes for the program to collect information about installed devices. After the utility is fully loaded, select the "Motherboard" menu. Review the information available under "Manufacturer" and "Model".
Step 5
To determine the detailed characteristics of the motherboard, visit the website of the manufacturer of this device. In addition, you can use a program already running to find out the type of memory modules, processor socket, and other parameters you need.
Step 6
The described method, unfortunately, is not without its drawbacks. Many programs cannot reliably determine the device model if the correct drivers are not installed for them. At the same time, to install working files, you need to know the name of the equipment. In such situations, use the Sam Drivers program.
Step 7
Install and run the specified utility. Wait a few minutes for the selection of the correct drivers to be completed. In the new menu, highlight those items that are related to the motherboard. Click the Install Selected button.
Step 8
Restart your PC and use Speccy to find out your motherboard model.
