Computers tend to break down, but breakdowns occur at the most inopportune moment. Sometimes you can cope with the problem on your own and rather quickly, without resorting to the help of a repair shop.

If the computer spontaneously restarts immediately after turning it on, problems may lie in both hardware and software. Some viruses can also contribute to this.

Diagnostics of computer programs and removal of viruses

First of all, a reboot can occur due to viruses. Antivirus databases should be updated and the computer scanned for malware. This can be done by logging into Windows in Safe Mode or by starting the operating system's Last Known Good Configuration.

In the search bar after clicking "Start", type msconfig. In the "Startup" tab, uncheck all unused or unknown programs. If necessary, you can click the button - hide Microsoft services in the "Services" tab and disable all others.

The presence of suspicious programs in startup indicates that the computer has been infected with a virus.

The software part may crash due to the installation of incompatible programs or drivers. You can fix this in the same way by starting the operating system in safe mode.

If the installation of new programs and drivers was not carried out, and the antivirus did not detect malicious files, you should check the hardware.

Computer hardware diagnostics

It is necessary to exclude overheating of the main devices. The obvious reason for this may be stalled or clogged coolers. The problem is easy to detect if you remove the side panel of the system unit and turn on the computer. It is not difficult to remove dust from the cooler; it can be done with a vacuum cleaner. If the cooler is clean, but rotates slowly, with difficulty, or has stopped altogether, it is better to buy a new one.

As a temporary measure, you can remove it and lubricate it with engine oil, but it still won't work for a long time.

Overheating can occur if the thermal paste has dried out. You can buy it and apply a new layer yourself, but it is better to entrust it to a specialist. In addition, the system unit should never stand next to a battery or in the sun - this will become an additional temperature load.

The problem may lie in the power supply. It is also prone to overheating due to dust, which is easy to fix with a vacuum cleaner. But more often the reason for its failure is the capacitors dried out during operation. This is an ordinary breakdown, especially for cheap power supplies, and cannot be repaired. Also, the problem with cyclic reboots can occur after installing new devices, if the power supply is not designed for such a load. In this case, you just need to purchase a more powerful power supply.

Check the contacts of all connectors, perhaps one of them has come off. You should also exclude the failure of the Reset button - disconnect it from the motherboard and turn on the computer.

Do not damage the hard disk boot partition. This can be done using HDD diagnostic programs. You should also test the RAM for faults. If problems with these devices are confirmed, they will have to be replaced.

The failure could be caused by problems with the BIOS. This rather rare nuisance can be solved by resetting the BIOS settings to the factory settings; in addition, you can update the BIOS.

If, after checking all systems and devices, the problem persists, you should contact the service center.
