The function of setting mirrored margins in Microsoft Word documents is an indispensable option, especially if you need to print and then stitch an abstract or diploma, or make a brochure out of your document. Working with it is no more difficult than with any other MS Word option.

Instructions

Step 1

In order to print text with the effect of mirrored margins, you first need to configure the margins themselves. If you are using Word 2007 or 2010, go to the "Page Layout" section of the main menu. Click on the Fields item and select the Mirror line from the drop-down list. If you want to change the size of the margins, select the bottom line "Custom margins". A separate window will open where you can change the values for the size of the fields.

Step 2

If you need to set up mirror printing in order to print text as a brochure, under Custom Margins, select Brochure. In this case, the document orientation will automatically change to landscape, and the margins will become mirrored.

Step 3

If you are working with Word 2003 and earlier versions, go to the "File" tab, select the "Page setup" menu item and in the window that opens, enter the parameters you need ("Mirror margins" or "Brochure"), and then click the OK button.

Step 4

In Word 2007 or 2010, go to the File section. Here in the menu on the left you will see the item "Print". By selecting this item, you will see the print setup page. Here you can specify the number of copies you need, select a printer, designate the pages that you want to print, and also select the type of printing - one-sided or two-sided. The second may require manual feeding of sheets into the printer. In the box next to the print menu, you will see what your document will be like when printed.

Step 5

In Word-2003 and earlier, click the printer icon on the control panel (quick print), or in the File tab, select Print. In a separate window that opens, you will be able to select a printer, number of copies, one-sided-two-sided printing, and so on. To see how the printed document will look, click on the "Preview" icon on the control panel.
