The user may need to transfer content from one hard drive to another. It's easy to do - you just need to connect a second hard drive to your computer and transfer the data.
Instructions
Step 1
After you turn on the computer, remove the side cover that provides access to the motherboard of the system unit. To do this, carefully unscrew the bolts located on the PC system unit. To connect the hard drive, find the connectors on the motherboard. Use an IDE cable or SATA cable. The choice depends on the type of hard drive connection. The power to be connected is different for IDE or SATA devices.
Step 2
Restart your computer, then check if the PC saw the hard drive. Immediately after turning on the computer, press the F2 or Del button on the keyboard to enter the BIOS. In the section titled Standard CMOS Features, you will see all connected devices: hard drives or optical drives. Without saving changes, exit BIOS.
Step 3
Reboot the operating system. Wait while Windows installs all drivers on your hard drive and detects it as media. Open the main menu of the operating system "Start", then go to "Control Panel", then to "System and Security", then to "Device Manager".
Step 4
From your desktop or Start menu, open Total Commander or My Computer (whichever you prefer). Select the data to be transferred and press the F6 button, then enter. These buttons are relevant for Total Commander. By connecting as an external hard drive, you can transfer data. To do this, you need a cable to connect to your PC and Mobile Rack. There are also special adapters, with their help you can connect both IDE and SATA hard drives.
Step 5
After you transfer all the files to another hard drive, connect it as a primary hard drive to your computer to test its functionality. Also keep in mind that this may cause some operating system problems. Make backups of your content by uploading them to external USB drives or drives.
