USB sticks are used for temporary storage of files and for transferring information from one computer to another. Flash drives are usually connected to various computers, at work and at a party, so it is quite common to find a virus on them. Therefore, from time to time it is worth doing a therapeutic formatting of the media.

Instructions
Step 1
Connect the USB drive to your computer. Wait for the device to be detected by the system and the corresponding partition letter appears in My Computer. If your antivirus immediately reported a threat, let it "cure" the viruses. Right-click on the "My Computer" shortcut and select "Manage". In the window that appears, on the left side of it, select "Disk Management". Wait while the operating system collects information about all media and displays it in the utility window.
Step 2
Find your USB flash drive in the list of devices. Right-click on its section and select "Format". The program prompts you to enter a volume label (the name of the media, which will be displayed next to the letter of the partition) and select the type of file system. Leave the cluster size with the default checkbox and also uncheck the Quick Format checkbox. If you are short on time, leave the checkbox, but in this case, hardware deletion of information will not occur, but only the scheme of the structure of the flash drive will be overwritten, and it will only "forget" about the information stored on it.
Step 3
Click OK, agree with the system warning about the imminent deletion of all contents of the section Wait for the end of the formatting process. If the flash drive has more than one partition, repeat the procedure for each. You can also format flash media from the command line using the format command. To do this, click on the "Start" button. Then click on the "Run" button. Enter format / fs: [system type] and press enter if you want to format the partition from the command line.
Step 4
If you need to format other media, then do it in a similar way. It is also worth noting that after formatting, it is best to check the media for viruses. Check all computer disks and registry at once to be completely confident in the security of information.
