Updating device drivers for most computer users is a routine and familiar procedure. But the same cannot be said for flashing the motherboard BIOS. Many people hesitate to perform this simple, in general, procedure or doubt its necessity. However, as with drivers, installing an updated BIOS version can improve the performance and stability of your computer.

Step 1
To update the BIOS, you need to download it. To do this, go to the motherboard manufacturer's website and find your device using an internal search. Almost all such pages have a section of resources available for download. It contains the latest BIOS versions. Download the one with the most recent date. Write it to the root partition of logical drive C or D.
Step 2
Restart your computer and go to the BIOS settings panel. To do this, immediately after loading, press the Del, F2, F1 key or another key, which one will be prompted by a line on the screen, something like "Press Del to enter SETUP". Find the BIOS update utility tab. It can be called in different ways, depending on the model of the motherboard, how exactly, you can find out from the instructions for the board. Typically, the title contains the word "flash", but this is not required. Run the utility.
Step 3
Two windows will appear, in one of them the current BIOS version will be displayed, and in the second, after you specify the path to the update file, the version of the installed firmware will be displayed. Run the BIOS update procedure, wait for it to complete and restart the computer.
