In the situation when there is no need to use several local disks, they are combined into one common partition. There are several ways to accomplish this task.
Necessary
- - Partition Manager;
- - Vista or Seven installation disc.
Instructions
Step 1
If you do not need to reinstall the operating system, then use a special utility. Download Partition Manager from Paragon.
Step 2
Install the downloaded application and restart your computer. Start Partition Manager. Turn on Power User Mode. Find the "Wizards" menu located on the main toolbar and open it.
Step 3
Open the submenu "Additional functions" and select "Merge sections". Click "Next".
Step 4
Specify the first section involved in the merge process. Please note that the new section will have the same letter as the first section selected. Click "Next". Specify the second section to merge.
Step 5
Click "Next". A window will open showing the state of the hard disk and its partitions before and after the merge process.
Step 6
If you have specified the correct settings, then click the "Next" button. In the next window, click the "Finish" button to exit the join partitions wizard.
Step 7
Find the Apply Pending Changes button in the Virtual Operations panel. Click it to start the process of merging sections.
Step 8
If you need to connect existing partitions during reinstallation of the operating system, then this operation can be performed using disks with Windows Vista and Seven. Start installing your new operating system.
Step 9
When a window with a list of partitions appears on the screen, click the "Disk Setup" button. Select any of the sections to be merged and click the "Delete" button. Repeat this step for the second section.
Step 10
Click the Create button. Specify the size of the future section. Select the type of its file system. Proceed with the installation of the operating system on one of the existing partitions.
