Some PC users may be intimidated by the word "registry". The fears are not unfounded. People who decide to go through the registry without being prepared can get headaches and get no results. Why climb into it? The answer is to "register" a file that, for one reason or another, was not in the registry lists. And if it did not hit it, then it is not for the system. How to register in the registry? Let's take games for example, because they are the ones that most often encourage inexperienced users to be interested in this issue.

Instructions
Step 1
Register your game in the registry. To do this, go to drive C, then to the Windows folder. There you will see the regedit program, run it. There is another way, easier, for those who do not want to dig among the system folders. Click on the familiar Start icon and select Run. In the "Run Program" window that opens, find the address bar, after which there is "Browse" (perhaps for your system that window may look a little different, but the line invariably stays in its place). Move the cursor over the line and enter the name of the program "regedit", then click OK. This will open the "Registry Editor".
Step 2
Find the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" folder among the branches. The registry looks almost like a regular folder tree. All documents are on the left side of the Registry Editor window, among them you will find the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" folder. Click on the plus sign to the left of her name or twice on the folder itself. Then find the "SOFTWARE" folder and find the game folder in it. Go into it.
Step 3
Find a file called "Install dir". If the file is missing, do it yourself. To do this, right-click and select "create", then - "create string parameter". Name it "Install dir".
Step 4
Indicate the path where you have the game, and then click anywhere on the screen to minimize the window. The registered path will be saved automatically. Thus, the game will be entered into the register.
