The explorer.exe process is responsible for the graphical interface of the operating system. If it is not started, Windows will not display the Start menu, desktop components, and other graphical components of the operating system. Of course, this process starts automatically. But there are times when this does not happen. In this case, explorer.exe must be started independently.
Necessary
Windows computer
Instructions
Step 1
When the operating system graphical interface is disabled, you can run programs using the Task Manager. In the Windows XP operating system, the task manager will start immediately after pressing the Ctrl-Shift-Esc key combination. If you are using Windows 7, then press the Ctrl-Alt-Del keys, after which a window will appear in which you can select the task manager.
Step 2
In Task Manager, click on the File component. Then select New Task from the drop-down menu. Then enter the process name explorer.exe. After that, it should start immediately. If this file was damaged, then you will receive an error notification. If it is completely absent, nothing will happen in the folder with the operating system. In such cases, this file must be reinstalled.
Step 3
The operation of replacing or restoring a file must be done in safe mode. You also need to have a disk with the operating system distribution kit. To enter the menu for choosing the option to boot the operating system when you turn on the computer, press the F8 key. In some cases, there may be other F keys. As a last resort, try pressing them alternately. From this menu select "Safe Mode". Wait for the operating system to load. After the operating system is launched, insert the operating system distribution disk into the computer drive.
Step 4
Using Start, find the explorer.exe file on the disk. Copy this file to any partition on your hard drive. Then rename it to explorer.exe. Now copy the renamed file to the Windows folder. If in your case the file is damaged, then before copying, delete the damaged file from the hard disk. If the file was missing, then just copy the new one. Reboot your computer. After reboot everything should work fine.
