A template for a photo can be a real godsend when you need to quickly make a beautifully designed collage out of your photo. To insert a picture into the finished image, it is enough to use the move tool and the transformation options of the Photoshop program.

Necessary

  • - Photoshop program;
  • - sample;
  • - Photo.

Instructions

Step 1

Load the template into the graphic editor using the Open option of the File menu. In some cases, files with multiple layers are saved with layers disabled, the contents of which are not displayed in the document window. If you come across just such an image, open the layers palette using the Layers option of the Window menu and turn on the missing layers by clicking on the empty window to the left of the layer thumbnail.

Step 2

Using the Place option from the File menu you already know, insert the selected photo into the open picture and adjust its size using the transformation frame that surrounds it. Pressing the Enter key will apply the editing you made to the picture.

Step 3

The image inserted into the document using the Place option may not be displayed in full size. If the photo is noticeably smaller than the template, use the Scale option in the Transform group of the Edit menu. In the transformation settings panel, you can see the size of the inserted image as a percentage of its real value. To enlarge or reduce the photo, click on the Maintain aspect ratio button in the settings panel and enter the desired value in percentage. Apply the Layer option in the Rasterize group of the Layer menu to the modified image.

Step 4

Bring the image under the template using the Send Backward option in the Arrange group of the Layer menu. If your template has a background layer, place your image under the pieces that should partially cover it, but above the background. You can move the layer using the mouse. After turning on the Move Tool, move the photo so that in the transparent area of the template there is a section of the image that should be visible in the final version of the image.

Step 5

If you got a template designed to insert several pictures, add the rest of the pictures to the document. It may turn out that in the windows intended for different photos, sections of the same large image are visible. To fix this, go to the layer with the picture that overlaps all the windows, turn on the Polygonal Lasso tool and select the part of the image to be inserted into the collage with a slight margin around the edges. To delete all the contents of the layer except the selected area, invert the selection with the Invert option of the Select menu and apply the Clear option of the Edit menu.

Step 6

To get a good result, when inserting your photo into a template with a transparent area in place of the face, you may need to adjust the skin tone in the photo to match the colors of the rest of the image. To do this, apply the Color Balance option of the Adjustment group of the Image menu to the layer with your picture and edit its color balance.

Step 7

You can save the collage obtained from the template using the Save As option of the File menu. When entering a file name, specify a name that does not match the name of the template picture.
