Instructions

Step 1

Download and install the Sony Vegas Pro software on your personal computer. You will need it to make a video with a white background. In addition, you need to shoot several frames on a solid white background in order to replace the original background with them later.

Step 2

Run the program, load the video file you want to process into it. Take advantage of the Chroma keyer effect. It is on the list of main effects. To make the program settings more subtle and thoughtful, disable this effect in the Video Event FX window.

Step 3

Find the Eyedropper on the toolbar. Open the preview window. Click it anywhere in the background that you want to replace in this video. Go back to the Chroma Keyer effect to make the background disappear. However, you will likely notice that the background has not completely disappeared.

Step 4

To make a video with a white background, go to the settings and select the mask mode (Show mask only). By enabling this mode, you will see which objects are black and which are white. The background you want to get rid of should be as black as possible. Moreover, there should be no white or gray blotches.

Step 5

Adjust the high threshold parameter to fine-tune background removal in mask mode. As a result, the main objects in the video will turn white and the background will turn completely black. After that, to create a video with a white background, adjust the low threshold parameter so that the remaining fragments of the background are removed.

Step 6

Pay attention to the edges of the main object. Don't break them. Disable show mask only mode. Turn on the Chroma Blur effect. Set the maximum value to blur the edges of the object. This will remove the colored halo from the object containing the remnants of the previous background. Start the chroma Keyer effect. Find the Blur Amount parameter. Set it to a small value. Save your changes and overlay the video on the new background.
