Many programs installed on your computer become unnecessary over time. For the most part, they do not interfere with work, but they always take up some space on the hard disk, which can be used for more needed purposes.

Instructions

Step 1

If the program that you want to delete contains the data you need in further work, first copy them into documents. They can be found in different folders created by the application, usually in Application Data or Program Files on your local drive.

Step 2

If your program used any of the account settings, for example, the browser, also save them as a separate file on your hard drive.

Step 3

Open the start menu. In the programs, find the directory with the name you need, open the drop-down menu and find the item for uninstalling the application there. Usually it is called "Uninstalling the program". It can also be “Uninstall”, depending on the manufacturer.

Step 4

If you do not find such an item in the Start menu, use the alternative method. To do this, go to the "Control Panel", select the menu for installing and uninstalling software. A new window will open, which will display a list of programs with options for action. Find the ones you don't need and select "Delete".

Step 5

In the appeared window of the uninstallation wizard, select the type of uninstallation. Complete deletion implies that all settings, all user files and account data will be permanently erased from the computer's memory. If you choose regular uninstall, some data may be stored on the hard drive.

Step 6

Check if the program folders have been completely removed from the hard disk by checking the required directories. Often, even with a complete removal, some program data remains, occupying a certain amount of disk space. In particular, this applies to games. In this case, you should also check the Games directory on your hard drive.
