The name of the account itself can be changed at any time, but renaming does not change the name of the profile folder. That is why the problems associated with Cyrillic characters in the name of the profile folder cannot be solved by simply renaming the account.
Renaming a linked folder may cause some applications or services to stop working. Therefore, the best solution would be to create a new local profile and then connect your Microsoft account to it.
There are several ways to change your username.
First way:
In order to open it "User Accounts" simultaneously press the "Win" and "R" keys on the keyboard.
- Next, in the "Open" line, enter "control userpasswords2" and click the "OK" button.
- Here we select the line with the username of the local account and press the "Properties" button.
- At this stage, enter a new username and press the "Apply" or "OK" button.
- Username has been changed.
Second way:
A method for changing the username of a local account in the Computer Management window.
To open it, right-click the "Start" button and click the "Computer Management" line in the context menu that opens.
- Then click on "Local Users and Groups" and double-click to open the "Users" folder.
- Now right-click on the local account username line and click on the Properties line in the context menu.
- Enter a new account name and click the "OK" button.
- Local user account name changed.
The system will immediately display a notification that the corrections made will take effect only after the computer is restarted. The problem is that before that it will no longer be possible to carry out any manipulations with accounts, that is, you cannot create, delete or rename them until the PC is restarted. Therefore, it is better to immediately click the "Restart now" button, which will appear along with the pop-up window.
