Video captured with a digital camera or copied from an original DVD or BlueRay disc is always large enough. In this form, it is inconvenient to upload it to the Internet, record it on media or transmit it in any way. However, the size of the video can be reduced using special conversion software.
Instructions
Step 1
Install a video conversion software on your computer. When choosing it, be guided by your own video needs. For example, if you are professionally engaged in shooting and processing digital video in large volumes, then it is better to use paid software solutions to convert it. If you need to reduce the video from time to time, then download a free program for these purposes. One of these programs is Any Video Converter. To download it, follow the link https://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/. After installing the program, launch it and start to reduce the video
Step 2
Load the video file you want to reduce into the program. To do this, click the "Add video" button, and in the file manager window that opens, specify the path to the required video. When the download is complete, the program window will display brief information about this file (name, duration, format and number of frames per second).
Step 3
Select the downloaded video with a mouse click, then set the options for the final file that has passed the conversion procedure. In the right part of the main window of the program, set the desired picture size, video bitrate and number of frames per second. In addition, set similar options for the audio track of the media file. To reduce video, these values should be less than the original file. If you want to leave them unchanged, then select another video codec from the drop-down list in the upper right corner of the program. This list contains video codecs optimized for viewing on a mobile phone screen, on the Internet, as well as on consumer players. After installing the options and choosing the codec, find out the expected format of the final file, make sure that it will be smaller than the original one and start the conversion procedure.
Step 4
Select the destination folder where the thumbnail video will be saved, and then click the "Encode" button. After a while, a smaller video will appear in the selected folder. Depending on the selected codec and options, the new video may be visually smaller and of lower quality, or practically not differ from the original file.
