The popular AutoCAD design program, by default, when printing any drawing, creates the plot.log file, which stores the history of printed documents: by whom, when, on which printer and with what parameters the printing was performed … But many do not need this function, and they would like to turn it off. This is not done in a very obvious way.
Necessary
Computer with AutoCAD installed
Instructions
Step 1
The very first and most obvious step is to check your print settings. To do this, go to the "Service" menu, then "Settings …" (if you have an English version of the program, then Service -> Options) and open the "Plot and Publish" tab. In the "Plot and publish log file" section, uncheck "Automatically save plot and publish log".
Now try to print a drawing. If, after that, the plot.log file still appears in the folder with the drawing, then, probably, the matter is in the drawing stamp settings. Let's move on to the next step.
Step 2
Open the print and publish settings window again (Tools -> Options -> Print / Publish) and click the "Drawing stamps …" button. In the "Drawing stamp" window that opens, press the "Save" button, specify the directory in which the stamp parameters will be stored, and set any name, for example, "shtempel.pss". Click "Save" again. After that, the stamp settings should become active. In the same window, click the "Advanced" button.
Step 3
In the additional properties window that opens for the newly created stamp, uncheck the "Log in file" checkbox, and then confirm the settings by clicking the "OK" button. Click "OK" again to close the stamp settings window. Close the AutoCAD settings window and try to print the drawing. The plot.log file will no longer be generated when printing.
