Instructions

Step 1

Subtitles come in two flavors: internal and external. Internal subtitles will always be displayed along with video playback and cannot be disabled. External ones are connected to the video viewer as a separate file, can be changed or deleted if necessary.

Step 2

To insert internal subtitles, download and install a video program. These applications include VirtualDubMod and AVI Subtitler. Download the installation file of the utility you like and install in accordance with the instructions that appear on the screen. If the program comes in the form of an archive, just unpack it with the WinRAR program.

Step 3

Launch the app and open the video file you want to add new subtitles to. To do this, use the appropriate menu item "File" - "Open" (File - Open). Then open the file with the text using the "Add subtitles" item. In VirtualDub Mod, this menu is located under Video - Filters - TextSub or Subtitler. It is worth noting that the Full processing mode setting must be selected in the Video line of the upper program panel.

Step 4

Save the changes made using the section "File" - "Save As" (File - Save As).

Step 5

Inserting external subtitles can be done using any player. To do this, just drag the title file into the window with the video being played. You can use the menu item "Subtitles" - "Add" and specify the location for the file. You can also optionally not connect external titles - if they have the same name as the video file, then the text will be automatically displayed in the program window or will be available through the corresponding menu.
