Previously, they listened to music on records - first gramophone, then more advanced tape recorders. Then came the age of audio cassettes, then discs. Nowadays, most often music, and indeed any audio recording in general, is played on computers and laptops, in phones, in mp3-players. And the most common file format for listening is.mp3. And what about those who have a huge collection of music on CD, but don't want to listen to it on the now "bulky" CD-player? Well, of course - convert the audio format to.mp3 format.
Instructions
Step 1
To get the.mp3 file, select the encoder program. So called special programs that allow you to get one small compressed file, video or audio from licensed formats. One of the most common programs is Exact Audio Copy (EAC), a special extractor for the Windows operating system. The program is small, allows you to avoid a large number of errors during transcoding, and is quite easy to operate. Download the program to your computer.
Step 2
Download also a special encoder for the.mp3 format - LAME. This program will allow you to convert files to.mp3 at the same time as reading files from a CD-ROM. Place LAME in the same folder as the EAC program. Link both programs by specifying the path to LAME in the EAC settings.
Step 3
Now insert the disc into your CD drive, wait for it to load and open the content in EAC. Select the recordings you want to recode. Then, in the Action menu item, select the "compression" action and the type -.mp3-format. Press OK - the program will start ripping the tracks from the CD, simultaneously encoding them into.mp3. Do not forget to first select the folder where EAC will place the recoded files, otherwise you will have to search for them all over the hard drive.
Step 4
If the program in the process of transcoding gave any errors (you will see them in the program's dialog box with the words Read Error or Sync Error), then there was a failure in writing or encoding the files. Do not worry - you will see all the information about errors with an exact indication of their location in a special log after the extraction process is completed.
Step 5
If you want to transcode to any other formats, just change the program settings and restart the compression process.
