Many modern games and educational discs are copy protected. Often the mechanism of this protection works according to the following principle: the program does not start if there is no optical disc with the program in the drive. However, there are ways to bypass this protection.

Instructions
Step 1
You will need a virtual drive emulator program (for example, Alcohol), which will also create an iso-image of your disk with a finicky game. Install the program on your computer to the system local drive of your computer. Run the Alcohol program and make an image of your disk drive. To do this, click on the "Create images" item in the left part of the program window, specify the necessary parameters (image name, storage location, path to the media) and wait while a copy of the disk is created.
Step 2
Add the created image to the program. Right-click on the main area of the Alcohol program and select "Add Image". The new image will appear in the list. Click on the "Virtual Disk" item in the "Settings" section and change the value from 0 to 1. As a result, you will have another DVD drive, this time a virtual one. Mount the image to the virtual drive by right-clicking on the image and selecting "Mount Image".
Step 3
You can view the new drive in the "My Computer" tab. It does not require inserting a new disk, since a certain copy of the data that is required to run a particular game protected by the protection driver will be mounted in this section. Check if the program starts with a virtual disk in the form of a simulated drive. If not, turn off your computer and disconnect the drive itself from the motherboard. Once enabled, simulate the drive will be the only possible choice and the program will not see the difference.
Step 4
If you do not have access to the internals of the computer (for example, when the system unit is with warranty seals), you can use a special utility that will disable the real drive and replace it with a virtual one - StarFuck.
