There can be many reasons for removing an old antivirus. Incorrect operation of the program, incompatibility with the system, preference for another antivirus, or due to the outdated version of the installed version. Correct and competent removal of the program is a guarantee of stable and efficient operation of the new antivirus.
Basic ways to remove old antivirus
There are five main ways to remove an old antivirus program from the system: through the control panel, through the "My Computer" folder, through the installation of a new antivirus, using an application to uninstall programs, rollback the system.
Removal via control panel
Removal by the first method is the most common. To do this, go to the control panel, go to Add or Remove Programs, select your antivirus from the list that appears in the window and click the uninstall button.
Deleting via the "My Computer" folder
The second method is the most versatile. Open the "My Computer" folder, go to the local drive on which the old antivirus is installed, select the desired folder, most often Program Files, look for the folder with the name of the antivirus program, select and press the Shift + Delete key combination.
Most often, an antivirus program is installed in the following path: C: / Program Files / antivirus folder.
Removal through the installation of a new antivirus
Installing a new antivirus is not always a suitable method. Not every antivirus during installation asks for the procedure for removing the old program. The essence of this method is as follows: we start the installation of a new antivirus, click "Next" according to the standard. Before the installation itself, a window will appear with a message about the detection of an antivirus installed on the computer, at the bottom of the window, click "Remove".
In no case should you install two or more antiviruses on your computer!
Removal with special applications
The fourth method is similar to the first. The principle of removal is the same here. The difference is that you must install one of the uninstaller applications. Some of them are: Revo Uninstaller, TuneUp Utilities, Uninstall Tool, CCleaner.
Removal via system rollback
The last way is the most radical. It is worth resorting to in the most exceptional cases.
When you roll back the system, not only the antivirus will be removed, but also the programs installed after the restoration date.
The mechanism of work is as follows: in the utilities, open the "System Restore" application, follow the instructions indicated, set the date, and begin the recovery procedure.
