Step 1
To change the background image if you have XP or Windows 2000 installed, right-click on the Desktop. In the context menu, select the "Properties" item, then the "Desktop" tab. In the "Wallpaper" section from the list you can choose a ready-made image. If you did not find a suitable picture, click on the "Browse" button to start searching on your hard drive or on the network. If the picture is smaller than the screen, you can either stretch it, or multiply it and place several copies on the Desktop ("Tile"), or place the picture in the center and surround it with a colored background. Please note that resizing the image may decrease its quality. By clicking the "Customize Desktop" button, you can change the appearance of the standard icons.
Step 2
Windows Vista offers a new set of wallpapers. Through the "Start" button go to the "Control Panel", select the "Appearance and Personalization" folder, then "Personalization" and "Desktop Wallpaper". If there is nothing suitable in the proposed picture, click the "Browse" button and look for an image from other sources. In the "How to place the picture" tab, choose the placement method: stretch, place in the center of the screen, or tiled the Desktop. You can make an arbitrary image that you like as the background of the Desktop. To do this, right-click on the image, in the context menu select the item "Set as desktop image".
Step 3
In the 7th version of Windows, it became possible to set a slideshow as a wallpaper. From the Start menu, go to Control Panel, select Appearance and Personalization, then Change Desktop Background. Browse through a set of ready-made drawings, or use the "Browse" button to find an image from other sources and upload them to a separate folder. Check the box in the upper left corner of each picture you want to add to your slideshow. From the list under the set of suggested background pictures set the parameters for the slideshow: "Image position" on the Desktop - fit, place in the center or stretch; "Change image every …" - set the frame rate when displaying a slideshow; Shuffle - select the order of the frames. Confirm your selection by clicking OK. To add a new image to the slideshow, open it through the "Browse", check the box and confirm the selection by clicking the "Save changes" button.
