A virus called "VKontakte" attacks the system hosts file, which stores information about visited sites, and blocks the user's access to the social network. To unblock access to the site, you must remove all executable files of the virus from your computer and edit the hosts.
Instructions
Step 1
Find the executable files of the virus. In Windows XP, open My Computer and select Search. Click the Files and Folders button on the left side of the screen. Type in the appropriate field the words - vkontakte or vkontakte.exe. Configure the search for additional scanning of subfolders, system and hidden folders. In older versions of Windows, just press the Win + S key combination and search according to the specified scheme.
Step 2
Delete all files like vkontakte.exe or vk.exe that are found. Please note that the VKontakte virus may have a different name for camouflage purposes. Try scanning your computer with one of the anti-viruses, for example Kaspersky or Dr. Web. Also press the Win + R key combination and enter the msconfig command. Check the startup menu and remove from it any suspicious applications that do not match the programs you installed previously.
Step 3
Start cleaning up the hosts file. In Windows XP, go to My Computer and enter the path in the address field:% SYSTEMROOT% system32driversetchosts. Open the file using the Notepad text editor. To find it on Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating systems, use the% SYSTEMROOT% system32driversetc directory.
Step 4
Examine the data contained in the hosts file. Delete all lines with the address vk.ru, vkontakte.ru, odnoklassniki.ru, my.mail.ru, etc., since the virus can replace the addresses of various social networks. To simplify the procedure, you can delete all lines at once, except for localhost. Save changes and close the file. After that, access to your page on the VKontakte social network will be restored.
Step 5
Contact the VKontakte administration by e-mail or phone number indicated on the main page. It is possible that access to your page was suspended deliberately due to hacking by hackers. In this case, the administration will help you create a new username and password to enter.
