The prohibition of automatic updates of the Windows operating system is necessary for those who use an unlicensed version that limits the use of the OS to 30 days. This is not the only, but the most common reason for this operation. Fortunately, this procedure is doable with standard tools and does not require additional software.

Instructions
Step 1
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the "Control Panel" item to disable automatic updates of the Windows 7 operating system.
Step 2
Expand the Windows Update link and select Configure Settings in the left pane of the application window.
Step 3
Specify the command "Do not check for updates (not recommended)" in the drop-down menu of the "Important updates" section and click OK to confirm the command.
Step 4
Return to the main Start menu and go to Control Panel to completely disable automatic updates of the Windows 7 operating system by disabling the wuauclt.exe process, which is responsible for periodically checking the Microsoft website for the latest updates.
Step 5
Select "Performance and Maintenance" and go to "Administration".

Open the "Computer Management" link by double-clicking the mouse and select the "Services and Applications" node by clicking on the "+" sign in the left pane of the dialog box that opens.
Step 7
Double-click the "Automatic Updates" item in the right pane and go to the "General" tab of the new "Automatic Updates" dialog box.
Step 8
Select Disabled in the Startup Type section and click the Stop button in the Status section.

Click OK to execute the command and restart your computer to apply the selected changes.
